Hair Care for Men and Women

Dry hair that looks boring and dull. Thin hair that knots together or stubbornly curls and waves. Can you relate? You are not alone. Often the cause of all these hair problems is the same: overuse of shampoo and chemicals that dry your hair and skin.

Good hair care can fix it. If you use a nourishing and moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, you are already well on your way. Whether you are male or female, young or old, your hair needs the same loving treatment. Read our great tips for strong, healthy and shiny hair.

Hair Care for Dry Hair

Dry hair is dull hair. If you suffer from dry hair, changing your shampoo is almost always the place to start. If you use a shampoo that’s full of harsh chemicals and soaps, it dries out the hair and scalp. Instead of drying out your hair, replace your shampoo with a natural shampoo.

Dry hair occurs when your scalp lacks the natural oils – sebum – which usually give your hair a nice shiny look. A lot of people use a shampoo that dries the oils off their scalp, and they may not even be aware that it’s happening. There are often substandard ingredients in regular shampoos that are not good for hair or skin.

Fortunately, there are effective solutions from natural products. Hair Care Shampoo from Australian Bodycare includes coconut oil, shea butter and tea tree oil – natural ingredients that moisturise and strengthen hair. Hair Clean shampoo restores damaged hair; it contains tea tree oil which works as an antiseptic to cleanse your hair and scalp. A good hair care product works against dandruff, dry and itchy scalps while at the same time giving you the best hair care treatment.

Hair Care for Curly Hair

Curls. Small curls, large curls, frizzy curls. Uncontrollable curls can sometimes have a mind of their own! In order to look after your curls so they don’t get out of control, it is important that your hair is moisturised.

If you have curly hair, you can try rinsing through your hair instead of vigorously washing it. Many people with curls notice that the curls are better and easier to manage on day 2 or day 3 after washing. When you wash your hair, use a healthy, natural shampoo and conditioner, such as Hair Clean shampoo and conditioner from Australian Bodycare.

Hair Care for Thin Hair

Typically, Scandinavian hair is thicker and less oily than other hair types. Smooth, thin hair on the other hand, is the most susceptible to being greasy and looking dull. This is because the natural oil in the scalp does not meet any resistance, so it freely descends through the hair strands.

Therefore, if you try to combat your greasy hair with even more washing, it creates a vicious circle where the scalp overproduces oils in response. Instead, of excessive washing, try to wash your hair every two or three days.

Also, use a mild shampoo that cleans your hair effectively without damaging the stands and scalp. Hair Clean Shampoo from Australian Bodycare moisturises the hair and contains tea tree oil with antiseptic. It works very well on curly hair.

TIP: Scalp Serum from Australian Bodycare can be extremely effective if you have problems with oily hair and dry scalp. Let the product soak into your hair overnight for the best results.

Damaged Hair – How to Treat It

Treatments like dyeing and bleaching are very abrasive on your hair. The proteins in the hair strands are drawn out and this makes the hair hollow and thin. Therefore, to remedy the damage choose products that moisturise and contain plenty of proteins.

Coconut oil is a cheap and effective solution. Scientists have found that coconut oil has the unique ability of being able to penetrate the core of the hair where it can actually rebuild it. Usually it is very difficult to fix damaged hair, but coconut oil can do this and prevent further loss of proteins too.

Scalp Cure from Australian Bodycare contains both coconut oil and tea tree oil. It’s a fantastic product for recovering and caring for damaged hair.

Hair Care with Natural Ingredients

Unfortunately, shampoos and conditioners bought from most places often contain harmful chemicals that irritate your hair and scalp. If you have problems with your hair or scalp, avoid these and instead use a shampoo with natural ingredients. Australian Body Care products are dermatologically tested and contain natural active ingredients.

Homemade Hair Care

You can also make your own hair products at home with ingredients you may already have in the fridge. The natural hair products you can make are very good for damaged hair. All ingredients are 100% natural and if you want to go one step further, you can use only organic products too. You can buy coconut oil from most supermarkets, but make sure you buy cold-pressed coconut oil without additives. It is usually a solid block at room temperature, rather than a liquid.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of almond milk

Start mashing up the banana until it’s a smooth paste and there are no more lumps. Banana strengthens the hair and encourages it to grow. Add the egg to the banana; eggs are particularly good for taming frizzy hair. Then, mix in the coconut oil and olive oil. Finally, pour in the cup of almond milk and combine. The milk softens the hair and makes it easier for the coconut to penetrate and rebuild the strands. Coconut oil is solid at room temperature, so if you’re struggling to get lumps out of the mixture at room temperature, you can give it a minute or two in the microwave. Apply the mixture thoroughly to the hair and scalp, allowing it to soak in for at least 30 minutes before washing it out.

TIP: Add tea tree oil if you want to effectively remove bacteria from your hair too.
