Your feet deserve attention

Feet do not always get the attention they deserve. Many of us use a handful of our favourite products every evening to get our faces ready for bed. You may even have a lovely body lotion that you carefully apply all over yourself after a comforting bath.

But what about your feet that carry your weight everywhere?

They do it best if you give them the right care and attention.

The most frequent causes of dry, dull feet

  • Wind and weather – The skin under our feet is thicker than on the rest of the body, and therefore it is not hydrated nearly so much. In the summer, when your feet get out in the air, they are exposed to wind and weather, and that can leave them dry and rough. Skin dries out in winter too, including your feet. It does not help your skin if the family turns up the heating, either.
  • Constant pressure – Your feet are constantly under pressure from the weight of your body whenever you stand or walk about. If you just let everything glide, the constant pressure can result in very dry feet, cracked heels and hard skin.
  • An inadequate foot routine – Dry skin on the feet may also be the result of not giving your feet the right attention and treatment.

How you know when your dry feet could do with treatment

It is always best to give your feet the kind of attention you give the rest of your body. Then you can get an idea when they are more dry than usual. Of course, there are several other factors you can look out for:

  • Rough, red or cracked skin
  • Itching skin
  • Hard skin forming
  • Skin peeling off under your feet

Who gets dry feet?

Unfortunately no one can be sure of avoiding dry feet. You probably know the feeling of a baby’s little, soft foot in your hand. Babies’ feet are soft and silky because they have not yet been worn with daily use.

You can be specially prone to getting dry feet, but even if you are not, you will probably face the problem sooner or later. With age, skin loses its elasticity, and becomes dry.

It is never too late to do something about dry feet.

If you are unlucky, dry feet develop into something worse

If you are not aware of the signals your feet are sending, dry feet can lead to cracking. Cracks and hard skin on the feet can lead to corns, and these are often painful.

Cracks appear in the heels when the skin has become far too dry. Fortunately, as cracks begin, they are not deep, and only affect the top layer of skin (the epidermis). They can progress right down to the lower layer (the dermis), and that is when they become painful.

So it is important to keep an eye on dry skin.

The basic rule: Prevention is better than cure

With that in mind, we strongly emphasise the importance of preventing dry feet, before they progress to the stage where treatment is needed.

The best thing you can do for your feet is to be sure to maintain a good moisture balance. Moisturised skin is simply better at withstanding the daily wear and tear feet are subjected to. The skin is, after all, the biggest organ of the body.

Do you have dry feet? Use these products – and restore moisture

There can now be no doubt about the importance of prevention. While you are doing your bedtime face-care routine anyway, you might as well give your feet the same treatment.

With four products from Australian Bodycare you can care for your feet and moisturise them, so you put an end to dry and damaged skin. Our products are dermatologically tested, with a 100 % guarantee of satisfaction and unlimited right of return.

1) Daily care with a moisturising foot cream

Daily care with a moisturising foot cream can really work wonders. A good cream for the feet contains a unique combination of Tea Tree Oil, urea og shea butter, and prevents dry feet that can progress to cracks in the skin. Use the foot cream together with Body Scrub and Body Wash, but if you have dry feet, you should preferably apply it twice a day.

2) Use Heel Repair on dry and cracked heels

Prevention is important, but it does not take much before your heels crack. If that has happened, use our Heel Repair, which protects the cracks in your heels from bacteria with the active ingredient, Tea Tree Oil. The high urea content also helps to soften the hard skin on your heels. Use it twice a day.

3) Use a Body Scrub

Give your feet a Body Scrub to cleanse the skin deep down. Use a Body Scrub once or twice a week when you take a bath. Exfoliate the skin on your feet to remove dead skin cells. Wet the skin before applying the scrub, and massage with circular movements.

4) Rinse with a Body Wash

Rinse, and then use Body Wash to help your skin absorb moisturising cream optimally. Dry the skin gently, and finish the treatment with a nourishing cream that moisturises and prevents dryness.

Pamper your feet

You are well on the way if you use these products every day and every week, as recommended above. Then it is always advantageous to give your feet some loving care, when they bear your weight all your life:

  • Set them free – it is good for your feet to get some air on the living room floor now and then.
  • Use the right kind of footwear – make sure your feet can breathe, especially during sports activities.
  • A footbath does them good – but not for too long. Hot water can also dry your feet out unnecessarily. Rub cream into your feet after the footbath.
  • Choose the right socks – cotton and wool are the best materials you can wrap your feet in.

If you give your feet the right attention and care, you can clear up dry feet, cracks in the heels and even far worse disorders. Your feet deserve the best!
